2 july 2010Ukreximbank named highest mover by capital increase in CEE by The BankerJSC Ukreximbank was named highest mover in CEE by Tier I capital increase by The Banker magazine in its 40th Annual Top 1000 World Banks 2010 Ranking, based on Y2009 results.
Among the CEE banks in Top 1000 by The Banker, Ukrexim posted the largest growth rate of Tier I defined by the latest BIS guidelines of 187.03%yoy, showing shareholder’s propensity to continuously prop up the nationally important bank. With respect to Tier I, Ukrexim was 3rd in country and 18th in regional CEE ranking as at end-2009.
As regards world ranking by Tier I, in 2009, Ukrexim jumped to much higher 455th place, almost half over the previous year’s 804th position, which evidenced advanced Ukrexim solvency as well as room for further expansion of its market penetration.
With respect to soundness, defined by Tier I capital to assets ratio, in country ranking, Ukrexim was placed 2nd as at end-2009 versus 8th a year before. This revealed improved base for increased solidity in case of any market turbulence.
During 2009, as the key financier for national production and trade, JSC Ukreximbank was pre-emptively supported by the Government, its sole shareholder, to facilitate uninterrupted activity.
In IQ2010, Ukrexim received two fresh capital injections total worth UAH 6.4 billion to increase its authorized share capital to total UAH 16.4 billion or 63.88% up versus end-2009, all accounted by national standards, which shall be reflected in IFRS Tier I. This enabled Ukrexim to rank 1st among Ukrainian banks in terms of capital by national standards as at end-1Q2010.
